How to Make Your Cotton T Shirts Last Longer?
We want to keep the color and vibrancy of our new custom t-shirts as long as possible. In this post, you'll find some easy tips that keep your printed t-shirts vibrant and lively for longer and get the most out of your purchase.
1. Turn your clothes inside out before you put them in the washing machine.
This trick offers more "protection" and less direct contact between the t-shirt prints and other clothing and t-shirts. This simple step is quick and efficient, ensuring the longevity of printed t-shirts.
2. Wash t-shirts in cold water.
Coldwater is always much better than hot or warm water when it comes to washing t-shirts. There's no need to wash your t-shirts in hot water. In most situations, cold water will do the job.
3. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners.
Regular detergent is enough to clean your t-shirts. The use of bleach or strong detergents such as softeners could damage prints on a t-shirt like vinyl prints, which are printed through heat transfer. Use mild detergent for your printed t-shirts.
4. Don't iron T-shirt prints.
Never iron on t-shirt prints directly. If iron is required, lower the settings of iron temperature, turn the t-shirt inside out, and iron. Again, for t-shirt prints, heat is often poor, excessive ironing is harmful to the prints, causing them to peel.
5. Avoid dryers.
Dryers are good because they save us time, but for t-shirts and their prints, it's bad. As described in this article, heat for prints is always bad! They shrink clothing and t-shirt (in particular cotton t-shirts) and damage t-shirt prints to make them crack or peel. Hang dry your clothes the old fashion way, the best method.
6. Wash similar clothes together.
One reason is to wash white t-shirts and not mix them with other colored t-shirts. Stop washing jeans or harder textiles with printed t-shirts. Harsher textiles such as denim can cause prints to peel when rubbed in softer materials or prints.
